Advice for would-be book reviewers
Terry’s top tips for writing professional book reviews.
Read the book you’re supposed to review properly. Here’s my approach to reviewing nonfiction books.
Don’t use the review as an opportunity to get revenge on someone who wrote a bad review for one of your books. (Tempting as it is!)
Don’t use the review to show the reader how clever you are, and that it really should have been your book. (Well, maybe a little!)
Don’t avoid reviewing a book in case you find yourself being critical of it.
Keep to the word count, style guide and, above all, deadline.
