I'll probably regret this, but...
I submitted an article to a writing event called Late Lines, run by the City Lit in London. The article is a rather poignant recollection of a deputy headteacher who ruled with a rod of iron when I was at school. The work is a far cry from my usual output: subjective and personal rather than objective and about 'important' stuff like education!
To my astonishment, the piece was accepted, and I'll be reading it out at the event. The main attraction will be author Jane Lythell. She will be giving a reading, and then taking part in a Q & A about writing and publishing.
It promises to be a good evening.
