Renaming several files at the same time
Let’s say you find yourself in the situation I am right now. I am in the process of updating my blogging taster course (see below), so I am updating the files and handouts I produced for it originally. In order to make sure I don’t inadvertently overwrite the old files (in case I need them again), I’ve copied them all to another folder. However, so that I don’t get confused, I wish to rename all of the files with “2020” at the start of the file name. I have lots of files, so even just the thought of renaming them all one by one is making me feel tired!
Fortunately, if you have an Apple Mac, renaming files in bulk is easy. You simply select them all, click the right mouse button, and then select Rename x items, as in the screenshot below.
