An email dropped into my inbox:

“Hey, you’re someone who knows about blogging. How about running that blogging course again, only online?”

At first I thought it was a scam. I wasn’t giving anything away:

“OK, sister, what’s the deal? How did ya find out about me, cos I ain’t in no Yellow Pages?”

A couple minutes went by.

“Look, Buster. I got your name when you originally emailed me. But if ya don’t want the work, there are plenty of other dudes out there. Nice knowing ya.”

This dame was good. I ‘d called her bluff and she’d out-stared me. Maybe next time.

“I was just joshin’ with ya. Gimme the low-down: when do ya want this done?

11 November 2020 18:00-20:30 plus the following week

That’s when the course is gonna run. Here are the details. Learn them good, then lose this article:

What: Writing for blogs: a taster

Course code: HJ093

Where: In your own home, courtesy of the City Lit Institute

The course ain’t online yet. Well, there’s one, but it’s in August and nothing to do with me. So here are a few details about what I’ll be covering. I can’t speak for nobody else:

  • Who the hell wants to blog anyway?

  • Who the hell are ya writing for?

  • Where the hell are ya gonna get ideas?

  • What the hell should go into a blog post anyway?

Why the hell should I give out any more details right now? Keep looking out for more info soon.

Update

The course is now live on the City Lit website, and booking is open:

Writing for blogs: a taster

Terry’s note: sorry about the tone of the above blog post. I accidentally put it through my hard-boiled fiction converter, even though it’s not fiction (unless nobody signs up, of course). The email exchange reported above was slightly different from the way I’ve described it.
