I spent this year's London Book Fair listening to talks, researching book covers and back covers, and interviewing someone for a possible article. I'm going to write more about the three days in my newsletter very soon. These are the topics I intend to cover:
- Book buying data from Nielsen, the ISBN people in the UK.
- Censorship around the world.
- Reflections on the talks I attended. In particular one I enjoyed very much was given by Janet Murray, whose message ("You don't have to wait to be picked") and presentation style were very upbeat. I'm looking forward to reading her blog and listening to her podcast. I've also signed up for her 10 day PR challenge, which sounds doable. The other talk I especially liked was "12 myths about publishers), by Katie Roden and Edward Peppitt, because it was down-to-earth and made a great deal of sense. Check out their website at https://www.getpublished.tv.
- The book blogger awards, a new event that included book bloggers, booktubers and bookstagrammers.
I'm going to spend some time looking at the apps and websites I found out about at the show, and report back on any that seem particularly good (or bad!).
That's it for now.
