On 22 December 2015 I published a review of Help! For Writers, by Roy Peter Clark. I liked the book back then. Do I still like it now?
Yes. I can’t say it any plainer than that!
It’s the sort of book that you can read from cover to cover, or just dip into at random. That’s my kind of book. Just now, for example, I flicked to page 101 and discovered this:
A few weeks ago I taught a beginners’ blogging course. In the section about working out who your ideal audience is, one of the techniques I suggested was to decide what problems your blog posts, and therefore your blog, are intended to solve. I wish I’d remembered this book then because I could have cited one or two examples.
Another good thing about Help! is that it’s eminently practical. So whether you’ve written too much, can’t write anything at all, or don’t know where to start, Clark has an answer.
Highly recommended.
