My copy of The Author, the magazine of the Society of Authors, has arrived. I always look forward to it, and am never disappointed. This occasion is no different.
From a quick glance at the table of contents it seems to have a couple of articles I’m especially interested in: educational writing and audio.
This issue also has details (as inserts) of the elections for places on the management committee. I’m standing myself, as I wrote in the article Vote for me! I hope that, if you’re a member of the SoA, you’ll consider voting for me as one of your four choices — I certainly will be! If you’re not a member, definitely consider joining. The contract advice is superb, and worth the (modest) subscription on its own. There are also guides on various aspects of being a professional writer. The SoA acts as a pressure group too, supporting writers’ interests.
I should say, as a sort of non-disclosure, that if you do join as a result of my suggestion, I stand to gain nothing from it, at least as far as I’m aware.
Unless once you’ve joined you vote for me of course!
